Osteopath
Nick employs his in-depth understanding of human anatomy to diagnose and treat not only symptoms but also the underlying cause. He has a Masters in Osteopathy, Bachelors of Applied Science (Human Biology) as well as a Bachelors of Science (Anatomy and Neuroscience).
Since graduating in 2009 Nick has trained further in visceral, obstetric and cranial osteopathic techniques allowing him to treat his patients with a gentle and effective approach. Nick enjoys working with all patients young and old, individually tailoring treatment approaches to their specific needs.
Outside of work Nick enjoys activities including rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, yoga and enjoying good food.

George McKenzie MOst BAppSci
Osteopath
People of all ages can see George for precise and effective treatment. He uses musculo-skeletal, visceral and cranial techniques to address the cause of the problem, working with patients to resolve pain or discomfort. When necessary, he refers and works with other health professionals.
George trained in Auckland, completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology) and Masters of Osteopathy. He began practice in 2009 and he has undertaken extensive postgraduate courses in visceral (internal organs) osteopathy. These included courses covering pelvic pain, post-surgery osteopathy, obstetrics as well as an array of Barral courses.

Shelley Joe MScMed (Pain Mgmt), BAppSci (ClinSc), BOstSc MIASP, MNZPS
Osteopath
Shelley completed her double osteopathic degrees in Melbourne in 1996 and was the first osteopath worldwide to complete the post-graduate Science of Medicine Masters in Pain Management at Sydney University in conjunction with the Royal North Shore Hospital in 2002. She was also instrumental in setting up the first internationally recognised osteopathic programme in New Zealand in 1997.
Over the past 25 years in practice, Shelley has treated people from all walks of life including elite athletes (including paralympians), babies to the very old, those with both sedentary and active lifestyles, acute injuries and chronic conditions. She has a wealth of experience and is constantly updating her knowledge as a member of pain societies both nationally and internationally.
A Kiwi come-home, born in Oamaru and just recently returned to Christchurch with English husband Nick, a pain specialist and mindfulness teacher to bring up their two daughters closer to home. Shelley is enjoying being back in the family fold and being active in both the local school and professional communities.

Sebastian is a graduate from the European School of Osteopathy, UK, with a Masters in Osteopathy. He has taught at both under-graduate and post-graduate levels in the UK and internationally.
Sebastian enjoys treating people of any age, from all walks of life and uses a wide range of osteopathic techniques based on the patient to create a unique treatment and management plan. He has particular experience with women’s health and pregnancy/postpartum patients and has clinical interests in diet and exercise.
Outside of work, you’ll probably find Sebastian either rock climbing, in the sea, at the gym or eating sushi.

Sam is one of the first graduates from the Ara Institute of Canterbury, completing her postgraduate diploma of Osteopathy in 2021. Over the past four years, she has developed a particular interest in the treatment of headaches, shoulder injuries and chronic low back pain, and is also well equipped to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions.
This year, Sam will be participating in post-graduate courses in visceral osteopathy to better assist the challenges each patient brings. She is looking forward to being a part of the team at Barrington Osteopathic Clinic and developing her practice further.

Amanda Viedma-Dodd is our principal osteopath having joined the practice in 2006. She is a graduate of Unitec with a Masters Degree of Osteopathy. During her training, Amanda's research practice focused on infant health.
Over her 15 years at Barrington Osteopaths, she has developed a reputation for her effective management of ongoing chronic conditions. Working alongside midwives and having children of her own, she has developed a special interest in obstetrics and pelvic pain.
